Roy Rivera Jr., PT, PhD, DPT, MCHES, is a licensed physical therapist and owner of Crom Rehabilitation in Houston and Pearland, Texas. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, Dr. Rivera went on to earn his Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Rivera continued his education at the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah, completing his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). He then went on to earn his Doctor of Philosophy in health studies at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Dr. Rivera is also a master certified health education specialist. He’s a professional member of the American Physical Therapy Association — Private Practice Section, the Texas Physical Therapy Association, and the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.

From the day Crom Rehabilitation opened, they purposefully created a safe, comfortable, and inclusive environment. Their daily goal is to ensure that all members of the LGBTQ+ community have access to the physical therapy they need and feel comfortable throughout their treatment. Focusing on creating an inclusive and open health care environment, Dr. Rivera wrote the book “Shantay, You Stay: A Healthcare Provider’s Guide to LGBT+ Inclusive Practices.” OutSmart Magazine has recognized Dr. Rivera as an outstanding leader in the LGBTQ+ community, naming him the Gayest and Greatest Physical Therapist from 2018 through 2021, a title that he continues to defend yearly.
